If you have African-American ancestors this program will help your research.The program will begin at 6:30 pm at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton.
February 27, 2014, Thursday:The Public's Health A Narrative History of Health and Disease in Arkansas by Dr. Sam Taggart, M.D. will be presented beginning with a reception and book signing from 5 pm to 6:30 pm and a lecture beginning at 6:30 pm in the meeting room of the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library, 1800 Smithers Drive in Benton.
March 8, 2014, Saturday: The tenth annual Genealogy For You Seminar featuring Cyndi Ingle founder of Cyndi's List, seating is limited so you will need to call the Benton library at (501) 778-4766 to register for this event. This will feature four sessions beginning at 9:00 am and continuing until 3:30 pm. There will be an hour and fifteen minutes for lunch on your own. Session I will be "A Guided Tour of Cyndi's List 2.0"; Session II will be "Evaluating Websites: 14 years later";Session III will be "Advanced Googling for your Grandma", and Session IV will be "Productive Social Networking: A Genealogist Water Color". Be sure and register before this fantastic seminar fills up.

March 20, 2014, Thursday: Dr. Nancy Hendricks will give a presentation and sign copies of her new book, Senator Hattie Caraway: An Arkansas Legacy at 6:30 pm at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library, 201 Prickett Road, in Bryant. This presentation will be co-sponsored by the Genealogy and Local History department of the Saline County Library and the Bryant Historical Society.
April 14, 2014, Monday: The Folk Group Harmony will return to the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library at 6:30 pm for another hand clapping and foot stomping good time.
April 19, 2014, Saturday: The Camden Expedition and the Battle of Jenkins Ferry seminar will be presented in recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Jenkins Ferry which was fought at the southern tip of Saline County in April of 1864. You may register for this seminar by calling the Saline County Library at (501) 778-4766. Seating is limited.
