Spring Activities for Kiddos!

Spring Activities for Kiddos!

Spring is one of my most favorite times of the year. Now that the weather is a little warmer, we can finally get outside and play! Here are ten activities you can do with your kids outside in the nice weather:

  1. Make giant bubbles. Get the recipe here:  https://happyhooligans.ca/homemade-giant-bubbles/
  2. Go for a walk.
  3. Paint with water on the sidewalk or driveway.
  4. Build with cardboard and tape.
  5. Make a wind chime or birdfeeder and hang it up.
  6. Go on a scavenger hunt.
  7. Slide down the hill on cardboard boxes by the Clinton Library in downtown Little Rock, or any hill for that matter.
  8. Draw shadow puppets.
  9. Messy paint (i.e. paint with feet, splatter paint, paint with spaghetti).
  10. Lay on a blanket and look at the clouds or stars.

But what if it’s raining? Never fear, here are ten things to do on a rainy day!

  1. Make a nature collage with things you gathered on your walk or scavenger hunt.
  2. Build a fort with blankets and pillows.
  3. Build with cardboard and tape. (You could build cars and pull them up to the tv for a drive-in movie.)
  4. Paint with things that aren’t paintbrushes (i.e. a flower, a clothespin holding a cotton ball, a plastic fork, etc.).
  5. Pour rice or beans into a bin and place small toys inside for a quick sensory bin exploration.
  6. Read the book Puddle then go for a puddle walk.
  7. Let the kids help you make homemade playdoh and then play with it. Get the recipe here: https://diynatural.com/homemade-playdough-recipe/ or https://domesticsuperhero.com/best-homemade-playdough-recipe/
  8. Make sock puppets and put on a show or retell your favorite story.
  9. Squirt shaving cream on the table and let the kids write and draw in it.
  10. Read!!
