Library Offers New Life Skills Class for Teens
What do you want to be when you grow up? It’s such a fun question until you enter high school and suddenly it’s the rest of your life at stake. Never fear, the library has a solution for that. Every Wednesday at 4:00 pm in February and March we are holding a class in Benton to help you learn valuable skills for life after graduation. You might be wondering if this class is for you. As long as you are a teen, aged 13-18, this class is perfect for you. It’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to do after graduation.
What Will We Learn?
Our classes will cover a variety of topics and cover as much information as possible. We’ll have a class on writing resumes and help everyone who attends put one together. You’ll get a chance to meet people working in different professions who will not only offer career advice but volunteer opportunities as well. We’ll teach you the interview skills you need to present yourself well. Mock interviews will be held at the end of March and you’ll get to test out those new skills. Teens will learn how to manage their money and the importance of savings and checking accounts. Come to one class or come to them all, you won’t be sorry!
Ms. Jenn is the Young Adult Librarian at our location in Benton. When not ordering Teen Fiction and Manga for the library, she can be found in the teen lounge directing drama club, teaching crafts and art projects, or running an RPG. Jenn is our resident expert on all things Young Adult, and can find you your next great read. When not at work, Jenn can be found sewing or climbing Pinnacle Mountain.
