Saline Reads 2026

So much fun, we’re doing it again this year!
Why read a book alone when you can read it with so many friends? We’re proud to announce the second annual Saline Reads program. We’ll have daily videos on Facebook and YouTube reading with your favorite librarians! Tune in on our social media every weekday from October 5 – 20 at 6:00 PM for the latest section. And track your progress through the book by picking up a tracker at your nearest Saline County Library branch!
What book is Saline Reads reading in October 2026?
Clementine is a mouse that lives in a lab with scientists and her friend Rosie, a chimpanzee. But one day she is taken away from her home! Will she be able to make it back to Rosie? Who took her, and why? You’ll have to listen in and read along with us to find out! Major themes include animal welfare, friendship, and what makes someone (or some mouse!) really smart. We think it’s a perfect book to read together because everyone can find something to enjoy in it, and it’s great for families.
Who can participate in Saline Reads?
Everyone! That means… you! All ages are welcome to tune in and read the selected book with us, at your own pace.
Do you have enough books for everyone?
We sure hope so! We have many physical copies of “Always, Clementine” to check out at all library branches. If you can’t find one at your local Saline County Library branch, you can also check out a digital ebook or audiobook on either Hoopla or Libby for free with your library card.
What other Fun Stuff is happening?
In October, the library always cranks up the fun for spooky season! Check out all of our Halloween events this year, including our free costume closet, movie in the park, spooky crafts, storytimes, and more!
AND, then we’ll get a chance to talk to Carlie Sorosiak, the author of “Always, Clementine!” All library branches will have her telecast on Zoom on Wednesday, October 28 at 10:30 AM. So after you read the book, think of some questions you might want to ask!
