December Storytime Break

Storytime is Taking a Vacation!

Gus and Magellan have decided to go on vacation, so storytime and other regularly scheduled youth programs will have to take a break during the month of December! We will use that time to prepare for a special visit by none other than Santa Claus! The Youth Services staff will also visit local elementary schools to perform special holiday programs for children that don’t get to stop by the library. We’ll be busy, busy, busy! Even though regular programming is taking a break, you are more than welcome to spend some time in the library to see our beautiful Christmas decorations, play with our toys, and check out great books, movies and music. We’ll also have some special programs, like a performance of A Christmas Carol by Hampstead Stage Company on Monday, December 11, at 6:00 PM at our Benton location. Don’t forget that Santa will be at the Benton library on Tuesday, December 12, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and at the Bryant library on Thursday, December 14, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Our normal programs will begin again in January!

Hampstead Stage Company presents A Christmas Carol – Monday, December 11th, 6:00 PM, Benton

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a timeless story with a universal message about the true spirit of the holiday season and the importance of friends and family. The tale follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and his clerk, Bob Cratchit, during a particularly difficult Christmastime. Through visits from three spirits, Scrooge learns the true meaning of helping his fellow man, and that there is no time like the present to become a better person. Besides being a feel-good story about love and friendship, this adaptation educates the audience about the class system of Victorian England and encourages them to help others who are less fortunate. Recommended for Ages 5 and up.
