Battle of the Businesses donated double this year!

We just knocked out our past record!!! The Battle of the Businesses has donated even more this year to our community.

This is the second annual Battle of the Businesses, collecting food, hygiene products, and winter clothing for our community. Back in 2023, we collected a little over 1,000 food and hygiene items during our “Pie a Librarian” contest. But last year we tripled that with our first Battle of the Businesses, collecting just under 3,000 items! Now our amazing community has done it again, and doubled even that, breaking our previous record… this year we collected a total of a staggering 6,981 items!!!

And our winner this year’s contribution was a whopping 3,478 items! Republic Services has taken the Golden Heart belt!

And our runners up:

Second place: Merchants and Farmers Bank with 754 items
Third place: Arcwood Environmental with 605 items

“I am so happy and constantly amazed at the generosity of Saline County. I am so grateful to everyone who participated in the Battle of the Businesses as well as those who continue to regularly donate to our food and hygiene pantry. It truly saves lives.” said Madison Ogden, Public Services Manager at Saline County Library. “My biggest hope for the pantry is that we can make it available to more people and to stop the stigma associated with asking for help. These resources are so important in our communities.”
