Seed Library

Spring is just around the corner! Or, maybe in a couple of months. It’s not too early to start daydreaming about Spring or planning your garden though.

Luckily for you, the Saline County Seed Library has all of your garden wish list needs. The Seed Library was established in 2020 with donations from the Healing waters outreach center and patrons. Our Library assistant: programming Anna was able to organize countless seeds into a catalog and system for “checkout” so that every “member” could request up to 5 seed packs a month.

We have vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers galore! Each pack gives you basic planting information and enough seeds to get you started. Our Seed library Facebook group is available for members to share tips, tricks, and progress of their own gardening experience. The Seed library is completely free like all of the library’s services and open to all ages.

Encourage your kids, encourage your friends, and encourage yourself, to explore the world of nature and gardening. Outdoor play is beneficial to all ages. We forget how much beauty is out there and how special it can be to nurture something from the ground up.

Not sure where to begin? Ask our staff. Anna and Bella are always happy to help the next gardener’s budding curiosity grow into a wonderful experience. And gardening is not just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. There are vegetable plants for organic produce, flowers for bees and birds, grow bouquet worthy flowers for special occasions, collect houseplants and succulents, or try herbs for cooking and holistic remedies. The possibilities are almost endless, or as open as we have seeds for you to try. Consider donating seeds from your garden, visit our park gardens and Nature play space to see what you like, and don’t be afraid to try something new!
