Wow… what a year it’s been at the Saline County Library! 📚✨ In 2025, our libraries were busier than ever, and we loved every minute of it.
Across all three library branches and our online collection, patrons checked out 559,383 items—that’s a LOT of books, movies, and games! Some of the biggest favorites were the animated movie The Addams Family, the Nintendo Switch game Splatoon 3, and the children’s book The Big Cheese by Jory John and Pete Oswald. Our Library of Things was also a hit, with fishing rods, perler bead kits, and jigsaw puzzles topping the list of most-checked-out items.
Our library family grew, too! More than 5,000 new library cards were signed up in 2025, and many patrons renewed their cards to keep enjoying everything the library has to offer.
The East End Branch had an exciting year as well. After opening in 2024, the branch expanded its hours in 2025, opening earlier at 9:00 AM and adding Saturday hours from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. This made it easier for families and students to visit. “Our patrons have been asking for this since we opened, and we’re excited to finally be able to make it happen,” said East End Branch Manager Amanda Garrison.
November brought one of our favorite events of the year: the Battle of the Businesses charity drive! Local businesses teamed up to donate food and winter clothing for library food pantries and the Warm Wishes program. Together, they donated 6,981 items, more than double last year’s total. First Security Bank won the friendly competition by donating an amazing 3,478 items all on their own!
And finally…. our library made new friends online! In 2025, our Facebook page gained 1,013 new followers, and our Instagram page grew by 267 followers. Thanks for liking, sharing, and cheering us on!
